The Pencil Rack is just a one – paragraph catalog of John Ciardi’s average pencil rack that he noticed one day, which he did for the sole purpose of doing something or getting some work done.
Based on my understanding of his itemization, his pencil rack seemed to be really average, which, in a parallel universe, really means messy. Maybe, one day, if I really cannot get any sane work done, I’d just stare at my bedside table and write an inventory as scenic as John Ciardi’s.
