Really, why does someone crave for horror movies?

For seventeen years, I actually do not know why there are people who prefer to watch horror movies than any other movie genre. My mom was one of them. It is for that reason that I seldom watch movies with her. I cannot keep up with her appreciation of horror films. She always tells me that such films are more exciting, with suspense and everything, and that they give her goosebumps – the very same excuses why I cannot stand a good 10 minutes watching them.

Now, I think I owe a “Thank you” to Mr. Stephen King. Because of his Why We Crave Horror Movies, I already understand the reason why my mom craves horror movies.  His causal analysis made it easy for me to grasp the idea that movie enthusiasts may really have a good idea and background for liking such films.
